It’s actually a personal pet peeve of mine when people take this holier than thou stance on plastic surgery. Like it’s just the worst thing in the world. Like taking advantage of cosmetic surgery just makes you the most vapid individual on the planet.
They fail to account for its ability to help people who have been mutilated by serious accidents, because hey, it’s mostly rich white ladies doing it, right?
And even if that were the case, who cares? The science is there to help people. Let it help people. We live in a time when we can change and modify our bodies in a variety of ways. Whether its a piercing or some hair dye or a tattoo. Surgery is merely the logical extreme of body modification. It’s stupid to judge people for trying to change.
If you love your body, that’s great. If you exercised and worked really hard to get your body, that’s great. But don’t judge the morbidly obese person because they had to resort to plastic surgery.
Just like you shouldn’t judge the person who got a new nose, or the person who decided to up their breast size. Even if the surgery isn’t saving their lives, they have their own reasons. It’s selfish to question that choice, and ignorant to label it as self loathing.
At what age should we be able to get tattoos/piercings without the consent of our parents?
13.
Yeah, maybe it’s extreme. But

I think I would get a sun set on my back. I’ve always loved the imagery of a sun setting. It’s about the ending of a day and the beginning of a night. And maybe when I get the tattoo, I’ll feel like I’m beginning. Like I’m starting to reach past societal norms, and embracing new and more provocative things ^_^
