While Buffy and her more capable friends deal with an incoming apocalypse, and the rise of a monstrous demon from the Hell Mouth, Xander is…running errands. This eventually leads to an encounter with zombies, and his saving of his friend’s lives. But they never find out about it. Because this episode is all about Xander being the only normal “useless” member of the party. He’s not strong like Buffy, Faith or Angel, he’s not smart like Willow or Giles, he’s not a werewolf like Oz, or a Vampire like Angel, and he’s not magical like Willow. He’s just your normal everyday geek-bro.

But he still tires to help. This is the foundation of his character. Even if he’s not super powered, he still clocks field time, because he still wants to fight the good fight. In the Zeppo, whilst his friends ignore him (due to an apocalypse, in all fairness) he is busy saving lives and causing trouble in whatever mundane ways he can think of.

Plus, the episodes damn funny. Just like my man Xander. Although, I wish I could say Go Fish was a Xander episode, just so I could put up those pictures of Nick Brendon in a speedo…oh what the hell.
